On September 22, 2011, as Dale was on his way to bible study in downtown Canton, Ohio, he was approached by two men and fatally shot. Even in this moment, though, he stayed true to his convictions.
As he lay on the ground bleeding, he prayed for salvation and forgiveness for the men who shot him, men he didn’t even know.
As the night progressed and his time grew shorter, he continued to talk forgiveness to his friends who were with him and to the emergency room staff who cared for him. In his last moments on earth, he even asked all those around him to forgive those two men, the men who shot him.
Early in the morning on September 23, 2011, Dale died from his undue wounds. But, his voice did not cease to be heard that day, and he was a man of his word.
The story of Dale’s life speaks for itself. He lived out loud for God.
